Biography

Benjamin Gauen has dedicated his career to advocating for survivors of gender-based violence. He is currently a trial attorney at Schroeter Goldmark & Bender (SGB) in Seattle, where he represents survivors of trafficking, abuse, and sexual assault in civil cases. Before joining SGB, Ben served as a Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for over thirteen years at the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. During his tenure, he led the office’s efforts to combat sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, developing comprehensive strategies involving investigations, prosecutions, policy initiatives, and community engagement. Ben actively participates in various anti-trafficking task forces throughout Washington State, collaborating with legislators, law enforcement, and community organizations to strengthen laws and improve system responses to better support victims and survivors. He is nationally recognized for conducting training sessions on sex trafficking for professionals across the legal, law enforcement, and advocacy sectors.
